Couple charged with robbing Tharaka-Nithi leader freed
An Administration Police and his girlfriend who were accused of robbing Tharaka-Nithi Couthy deputy governor Eliud Muriithi were on Friday released on a bond of Ksh100, 000 each or cash bail of Sh500,000.
Constable Josphat Kipyegon and Rose Kajira were accused of robbing the deputy county boss of Ksh3.5 million at Kinoru, Makutano Township in Meru County last week on Wednesday.
Appearing before principal magistrate Stella Abuya denied the charges leveled against them.
Ms Kajira, a 22-year-old studying hospitality and management at Mt Kenya University, was arrested on October 14th after depositing Ksh1.4 million at a KCB bank in Isiolo County.
The prosecution charged her with robbery with violence and handling stolen money.
Their case will be mentioned on November 3rd and heard next year on January 23rd.
