Couple die, buried same day after 74 years of marriage

In a fitting tribute to a great and abiding love, an elderly couple was laid to rest in the same grave in Yowani village, Kitui County following their deaths only three days apart. Malonza ngambiand and his wife elizabeth mukeli had been married for seventy-six years. Relatives said although their coincidental deaths were baffling, they were happy that the two remained united in death as in life.

 As the funeral procession made its way down the path, family and friends raised their voices in song. This would not be a sombre occasion but a celebration of the great and rare love shared by the deceased couple. At the time of death Malonza Ngambi was 101 years old and his sweetheart, Elizabeth Mukeli was 94 years old, they had been married for 76 years.
