Couple, two children hacked in Kericho County

A man, his wife and their two children were brutally attacked by unknown assailants on Thursday night at their home in Kimugul village, Kericho county.

They were found laying in a pool of blood with deep cuts on the head and body.

They were rushed to Kericho District Hospital for treatment but had to be transferred to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret for specialised treatment.

The man has been identified as Reuben Sang and was attacked alongside his wife and two children aged five and 11 years.

According to Jona Mutai, a relative, the attackers are suspected to have gained access to the homestead during a power blackout.

It is alleged that the assailants may have also raped the woman and her 11-year-old daughter.

One of the family members succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at Kericho district hospital.

Kipchimchim Ward MCA Bernard Mutai decried rising cases of insecurity in the area.

He further appealed to the police to move with speed in ensuring that the culprits are brought to book.
