Court awards Dennis Itumbi Ksh.5 million compensation

The High Court has awarded State House Director of Digital Communications Dennis Itumbi Ksh.5 million as compensation for illegal arrest and detention by police in 2012.

Itumbi sued the Government over his arrest and detention without trial over alleged hacking of the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) prosecution office email in 2012.

In his case against the Attorney General Githu Muigai, Director of Public Prosecution Keriako Tobiko and Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett, Itumbi sought Ksh.50 million as damages for the violation of his constitutional rights.

He also wanted the court to protect him from any further arrest and prosecution in relation to the issues, claiming he is still under close watch by the investigators even after President Kenyatta’s case was terminated.
