Court bars police from probing Joho over alleged KCSE results forgery

The High Court sitting in Mombasa has temporarily barred police from probing, summoning, arresting or prosecuting Mombasa Governor, Ali Hassan Joho, over the alleged forgery of his 1992 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results slips.

High Court Judge, Eric Ogolla, also barred police from arresting and charging the outspoken Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) in the ongoing investigations by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) over alleged tax evasion.

Justice Ogolla issued the interim orders following an application made by Joho who has sued Inspector General of Police, Joseph Boinnet, for harassing him over his KCSE results slip and KRA and DCI probes.

The ODM Deputy Party Leader moved to court through his lawyers, James Orengo and Dennis Mosota, under a certificate of urgency.

The matter will be heard on April 13.
