Court Destroys Bhang Worth 2 Million

Principal magistrate Peter Kiama led a security team in burning over 2000 balls of the bhang after conclusion of a case where two people had been charged.

Kiama said the exercise is major milestone in the fight against drugs in the area warning that the court will not be lenient on individuals trafficking the drugs.

He added that the law requires that drug exhibits be destroyed after conclusion of a case so that they do not get back to the market.

Kiama was accompanied by Mwea East OCPD Titus Yoma and other senior security and judiciary officers.

The two suspects charged on 1st May 2014 were however released after the magistrate said the case had some technicalities.
