Court detains robbery suspects
Four robbery suspects were Friday morning arraigned in a Nakuru Court to face robbery with violence charges.
The four, James Ndung’u, Mwangi Maina, Wanjohi Maina and a Mr Kang’ethe, were accused of using offensive weapons to rob two residents of their lorry worth 5.2 million shillings, 750 bundles of polythene papers valued at Ksh 4.2 million and mobile phones at Sailo area in Nakuru County.
The four also faced an alternative account of handling stolen property after they were caught with 450 bundles of polythene bags valued at Ksh 2.3 million in Nairobi’s Kayole area.
The four, who were before Nakuru Chief Magistrate David Kemei, however, denied the charges.
State Counsel Hillary Songoyo urged the court to deny the accused bond terms on grounds that the vehicle that was hijacked with the goods is still missing as well as some of the goods.
The hearing of their bond application has been set for Monday, August 22, 2016.
