Court detains suspects arrested with Ksh.6M bhang in Samburu

Four suspects who were arrested on Saturday for allegedly trafficking bhang worth Ksh.6 million along Wamba-Kirimon Road were Monday detained for seven more days to allow police complete investigations.

The accused were presented before Senior Resident Magistrate Abraham Gachie where the prosecution sought more time to hold the suspects.

The case will be mentioned on May 20, 2019.

The prosecution submitted that two other unknown suspects escaped in two Toyota Prado cars during the arrest at about 6:30am, and that the accused persons will help them trace the missing suspects and the two motor vehicles.

He said the two suspects and two vehicles are believed to hiding in Nairobi.

The officer said that the suspects would also assist the DCI in establishing owners of two Toyota Prado vehicles that were found at the scene of crime.

The 113 bales of bhang were being transported in two vehicles from a neighbouring country through Moyale in Marsabit County and Kirimon in Samburu County to an unknown destination.
