Court detains two brothers linked to murder of Star journalist Erick Oloo

Two brothers accused of involvement in the death of Star newspaper journalist Erick Oloo will remain in police custody for 11 more days pending conclusion of investigations into the matter.

The accused; Victor Luta and Franklin Luta, were arraigned before Siaya Principal Magistrate James Ong’ondo where the prosecution sought for more time to conclude investigations.

The prosecution, through County Criminal Investigations Officer Joseph Kinuthia, had requested for 14 more days to complete investigations into the matter.

The accused are expected back in court on December 10, 2019.

The prime suspect in the case, Chief Inspector Sabina Kerubo, her daughter and house-help, who were arrested alongside Victor and Franklin, were not presented in court.

Erick Oloo’s body was found in Kerubo’s house on Thursday morning after he was suspected to have been murdered.

An autopsy conducted on Oloo’s body showed he died from trauma caused by injury to his head and abdomen.

Government pathologist Gabriel Juma said the journalist died from excessive internal bleeding following injuries inflicted using a blunt object.
