Court fines two people Ksh 20M for possessing ivory

A Nyahururu Court has fined two people 20 million shillings each or spend the rest of their lives in prison.

Samuel Emana Ekudongoi and Peter Emajong who appeared before court were charged with two counts related to illegal possession of wildlife trophy, and dealing in the trophies.

The two had earlier on been arrested while in possession of three pieces of elephant tusks weighing 6.5 kilogrammes.

The first count was being in illegal possession of wildlife trophies for which they were fined one million shillings or each to serve five years imprisonment in default.

In the second count, they were convicted of dealing in wildlife trophies and were fined Ksh 20 million each or to serve life imprisonment in default.
