Court frees Sirisia MP John Waluke on Ksh.3M bond, Ksh.2M cash bail

Sirisia Member of Parliament John Waluke has been released on a personal bond of Ksh.5 million, a surety bond of Ksh.3 million and cash bail of Ksh.2 million.

The MP is charged with three counts of fraudulent acquisition of public properties and and forgery.

The court also issued a warrant of arrest against Waluke’s co-director Grace Wakhungu Sarapay.

The legislator was further directed to report to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) police station every two weeks and have his passport deposited before court.

The case was set for mentioning on August 17, 2018.

Waluke had been arraigned in a Nairobi anti-corruption court and charged with three counts of fraudulent acquisition of public properties and and forgery.

He was charged along side Grace Sarapay Wakhungu and Erad Supplies and General Contracts Limited.

It was alleged that on February 24, 2009, being the director of Erad Supplies and General Contracts Limited, he knowingly and fraudulently uttered a false invoice for the sum of USD 1,146,000 (Ksh.114.6million).

The money was to be used as evidence in an arbitration dispute between his company and the National Cereals and Produce Board.
