Court frees widow of slain Muslim cleric Aboud Rogo

Haniya Sagaar, the widow of the slain Muslim cleric Aboud Rogo, has been freed.

On Friday, the Mombasa High Court ruled that the 10-year-jail term she was handed for aiding terror activities was based on weak evidence.

Sagaar had been found guilty failing to disclose information on a terrorist who attacked a police station in Mombasa.

Justice Dora Chepkwony said the ruling erred in law coming after her co-accused were set free.

In Friday’s ruling, the Judge said the phone calls between Sagaar and one of the slain terrorists, did not warrant her incarceration.

Maimuna Abdirahman, Ramla Abdirahman Hussein and Tasnim Yakub were killed after a foiled attack at the Central Police Station.
