Court Issues Certificate Nullifying Othaya MP’s Election

The petitioner in the case Peter Kingara was handed the certificate which was signed by the Nyeri court of appeal deputy register Vincent Nyakundi and addressed to the speaker of the national assembly Justin Muturi.

The court of appeal in Nyeri invalidated the election of Wambui as Othaya MP after a successful petition by King'ara on the 13th February 2014.

The speaker of the national assembly is now expected to declare the seat vacant.

The electoral body IEBC is expected to call for a by-election 90 days after the seat is declared vacant.
