Court issues warrant of arrest against former judge in theft case

A Nairobi Court on Friday, January 27 issued a warrant of arrest against Justice (Rtd.) Phillip Ransley for theft of over 250 million shillings belonging to a client.

The order by Nairobi Chief Magistrate, Francis Andayi, comes after prosecution made the application so as to facilitate his extradition from the United Kingdom to answer to two counts of stealing by agent.

According to the charge sheet filed in court, the retired Judge committed the offense between 1st December 2014 and August 2015 at Ransley and McVicker and Shaw Advocates along Ngong Road.

It is alleged that being an agent to Angela Scott and John Rowland Minns, he stole Ksh 102.7 million and Ksh 152.7 million respectively from the said persons.

The state now wants the former Judge brought back in order to plead to the charges in accordance with the law.

The case will be mentioned on 3rd March 2017 for further directions .
