Court Lifts Warrant Of Arrest Against Kethi

The warrant was issued against Kethi by Chief Magistrate Hannah Ngung’u after she failed to appear in court for the hearing of her case.

The prosecution argued that Monday’s orders by High Court Judge Justice Msagha Mbogholi did not exempt her from attending the proceedings.

Justice Mbogholi then suspended the trial that was set to commence.

The case will be mentioned on the 8th of July 2014 pending determination of an application Kethi filed on Tuesday last week opposing the conduct of the proceedings as being oppressive.

Through her lawyers Fred Ojiambo and Julie Soweto, Kethi claimed that she had not been provided with a copy of the witness statement and other relevant documents to prepare for the case against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

This is the second time that Kethi is attempting to stop her trial after a previous bid failed.

The case will be mentioned on the 28th of August 2014.
