Court nullifies election of Wanjiku Kibe as Gatundu North MP
The High Court in Kiambu on Thursday March 1, nullified the election of Wanjiku Kibe as Gatundu North Member of Parliament saying it was poorly conducted.
In his ruling, Justice Joel Ngugi faulted the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for the illegalities and irregularities committed in the August 8, 2017 elections.
The court has since directed that the electoral body pays Wanjiku Kibe 3 million shillings and another 1.5 million shillings to the petitioner Clement Waibara, who is also the former area Member of Parliament.
Kibe is among two other MPs; Jubilee rebel and Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter and Ugenya Member of Parliament Chris Karan who lost their election petitions today.
