Court nullifies Wavinya Ndetis nomination as Wiper gubernatorial candidate

Machakos gubernatorial aspirant Wavinya Ndeti’s nomination has been declared null and void by the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal.

In the ruling, the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal has ordered fresh nominations within 48 hours.

According to the Tribunal, Ms Wavinya’s nomination for governor on April 30 was in defiance of the Tribunal order that had been issued earlier stopping the primaries.

Wavinya had secured the Wiper Party ticket to contest for the Machakos County gubernatorial after garnering 299,312 votes to clinch the ticket in the controversial Wiper Party primaries which her only competitor, Bernard Kiala, boycotted.

Kiala had, however, moved to court and obtained an order stopping the exercise citing a ploy between Wiper Party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Ms Ndeti to lock him out.

Speaking after the ruling, Kiala expressed discontent saying that he had no faith in the Wiper Elections Board.

Wavinya on the other hand welcomed the decision saying that she was ready for a repeat nomination exercise.

The gubernatorial nominations for Machakos County have threatened to shake unity of the party with influential figures supporting different candidates for the seat.
