Court orders DNA test for twins over Fidel Odinga estate

The High Court has ordered a DNA test to ascertain the paternity of the Fidel Odinga twins.

During the ruling, Justice Aggrey Muchelule ordered the media not to mention the names of the minors.

Lwam Getachew Bekelle, the late Fidel’s widow, has denied the two twins saying her son is the only heir to the deceased’s estate.

A notice of motion in the case pitting her against Ida Odinga and her daughter Winnie was filed at the Milimani Law Courts Family Division.

It was for grant of representative for the estate of Fidel Odinga.

According to Bekelle, the objection by Ida and Winnie has been overtaken by events since it was filed outside stipulated timelines by law of succession.

The grant of letters of administration of the estate was issued on January 9, 2019.

41-year-old Fidel Odinga was found dead after a night out with friends four years ago.

The Daily Nation said Bekele found him unresponsive in the morning inside a spare bedroom at their Karen home.
