Court orders fresh probe into death of pupil

A court in Nanyuki has ordered fresh investigations to establish what caused the death of a 10-year-old pupil of Mukadamia Primary School who was allegedly caned by her teacher.

This is after the teacher linked to her death was released over lack of evidence.

A postmortem showed that the child died as a result of an intestine problem and that being caned had nothing to do with her demise.

The girl was reportedly admitted in hospital soon after being caned by the teacher, and died while undergoing treatment at the Mary Immaculate Mission Hospital in Mweiga.

Laikipia Police Boss Ben Changulo told Citizen Digital that the high court in Nanyuki has ordered fresh investigations into the child’s death.

The investigations will commence on the 21st of June this year.
