Embu court orders MCA vote recount

An Embu court has ordered for the recount of ballot papers used in the MCA race in Mavuria Ward, Mbeere South constituency during the August 8 General Election.

Chief Magistrate Maxwell Gicheru directed that the ballot papers be presented in court on December 15 for the recount.

This order follows a petition filed by Patrick Ngari who wants the election results of the MCA race in the area nullified.

The petition challenged the election of John Mbaka as the Member of County Assembly representative for Mavuria Ward.

Ngari ran as an independent candidate during the August 8 poll where he lost to Mbaka who also ran on an independent ticket.

The petition also wants the court to scrutinise the ballots cast on election day for any alleged malpractices.
