Court orders Mombasa ISIS terror suspects detained

A court in Mombasa has detained four suspects arrested on allegations of engaging in terror-related activities on Saturday, February 18, for 21 days to allow police conclude investigations.

Shanzu Law Courts Senior Magistrate Diana Mochache granted police request for more time to thoroughly scrutinize items seized from the suspects.

Security agents confiscated laptops, mobile phones, SIM cards among other items from the suspects.

The case is set to be heard on March 01, 2017.

Two of the suspects – Nasra Faiz Hyder and Salim Mohammed Rashid, are facing an additional count for travelling to Syria intent on joining the ISIS terror organization.

The others are Aisha Faiz Hyder and Fatuma Mohammed Rashid.

The four were arrested alongside three others who were acquitted and released on Sunday, February 19.
