Court Orders Nyandarua Speaker To Swear MCA
Justice George Odunga ordered that the MCA in question Mwangi Ndirangu be sworn in so that he starts work immediately.
The Speaker is alleged to have refused to swear in the MCA on the grounds that 'he was unfit to serve in the assembly".
The MCA moved to court after the speaker rejected his nomination by TNA in August 2013.
Ndegwa’s allegations have however been rendered null and void by the court saying that the speaker has no powers to determine who to swear and who not to swear.
Justice Odunga stated that the constitution does not mandate him to determine who sits in the County Assembly.
The court has further ordered the speaker to accord the nominated MCA all the benefits he is entitled by the constitution.
