Court Orders Release Of Impounded Taxis
Justice Isack Lenaola says the cars, mainly used as taxis should be released after their log books are produced.
The High Court had earlier enjoined Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) to identify the owners of the cars.
The matatu strike took place on March 5th after Nairobi County increased parking fees by more than 100%.
The daily parking fee was raised from Ksh. 140 to Ksh. 300 per day
Police officers impounded 111 vehicles and arrested 33 drivers after they abandoned their vehicles on roads in protest of the higher parking fees.
The impounded cars are being held at the County government's Dagoretti yard.
