Court postpones criminal case against Bishop Margaret Wanjiru

A city court has adjourned the criminal case facing Bishop Margaret Wanjiru and will now be heard on June 27.

This was after her advocate told the lower court that the High Court has demanded the initial file on her detention for five days followed by an order to pay a bail of Ksh 500,000 with two sureties.

The order was later quashed by the High Court and Wanjiru released from police cells after her bail was reduced to Ksh 100,000 after her arrest on April 26, 2017.

The aspiring governor was accused of causing public disturbance after she invaded City Market Jubilee Party polling station with her supporters and destroyed four ballot boxes all worth Ksh 30,000.

The appeal protesting her prosecution and bond terms at the lower court will be heard on May 10, 2017.
