Court refuses to compel Pastor Ng’ang’a to avail DNA results

A Limuru court has rejected a bid by to have Pastor James Ng’ang’a of Neno Evangelism Church compelled to submit DNA samples to police investigating an accident that killed one and injured another at Limuru, along the Nakuru – Nairobi highway.

Magistrate Timothy Ole Tanchu said the prosecution should have made the DNA sample request in writing before the case against pastor Ng’ang’a commenced.

The magistrate has also given prosecution two weeks to furnish defence lawyers with witness statements before the case against the televangelist, two police officers and a civilian is heard on September 10th.

Meanwhile, Lawyer Cliff Ombeta has withdrawn from representing Ng’ang’a in the case, accusing him of being uncooperative.

Ng’ang’a will now be represented by lawyer Assa Nyakundi.

He (Ng’ang’a), and his three co-accused, were last week charged over the fatal crash that left Mercy Njeri dead and her husband seriously wounded but were all released on bond Friday.
