Court Rejects Plea By Dreadlocked Pupil’s Parent

The pupil had been suspended from the school due to the dreadlocks which is not allowed in the school.

High Court judge Justice Mumbi Ngugi said she based her ruling on the school's rules and regulations.

The court has ordered both parties to file submissions and serve each other pending the hearing of the case on Monday 23th September 2014.

The nine year old boy who schools at Rusinga School was suspended from school last week for having dreadlocked hair contrary to rules.

The school has said that the boy would only return to school after he shaves his dreadlocks.

This angered the boy’s mother who moved to court terming the decision to suspend her son as discriminatory.
