Court reviews bail term for musician behind Ikamba song

A Nairobi court on Monday reviewed the bail terms granted to one of the two musicians behind the controversial Ikamba song.

John Gichiri Njau, who was last week charged with three counts of ethnic contempt, had his bail term, reduced from Ksh.700,000 to Ksh.250,000.

Gichiri, who has been in remand since last week, secured his freedom after Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria came to his rescue.

Speaking outside the Milimani Law Courts Kuria said he had instructed his lawyers to file a case at the High Court.

Gichiri was arraigned in court last week on Monday and charged with three counts of ethnic contempt.

He denied the charges before Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi and was released on a Ksh.700,000.

The hearing of the case was set for April 19, 2018.
