Court rules Busia Governor Ojaamong has case to answer in Ksh.8M graft case

The Anti-Corruption Court in Nairobi on Friday ruled that Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has a case to answer in a Ksh.8 million graft case.

Governor Ojaamong and his nine co-accused are charged with engaging in a scheme to defraud the Busia County government of the said amount between March and September 2014.

The suspects face seven counts including abuse of office, conspiracy to commit economic crimes as well as engaging in a project without proper planning.

They appeared before Magistrate Douglas Ogoti who ruled that the prosecution has established its case against them hence put them on their defence.

The matter will be heard on June 12, 2020.

The ten told the court that they will call common witnesses to defend them in the case, however not divulging how many they (witnesses) will be.
