Court stops arrest of ex-NYS deputy boss

Former National Youth Service (NYS) Deputy Director General, Adan Harakhe, on Thursday, November 17 got temporary relief after the High Court stopped his arrest and prosecution over the NYS scam pending an inter-party hearing set for Tuesday, November 22.

“Pending the inter-part hearing there should be no arrest or charge of the applicant,” High Court Judge, Hedwig Ong’udi, directed.

In the case, Harakhe moved to court under a certified of urgency saying that there are plans by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Keriako Tobiko, to charge him, at the behest of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) interested party in an effort to intimidate him into conceding the civil suit of a pending case.

“The intended prosecution by DPP is a witch hunt mission against the ex-parte applicant (Harakhe) as the respondent (DPP) and the interested party (EACC) seek to appease its masters,” he stated.

He claims that he is to be charged  over allegations of unprocedural procurement of training materials for automotive engineering faculty of the NYS.
