Court suspends newly proposed NTSA curriculum

The High Court has suspended the newly proposed curriculum for training and testing of drivers by The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA.)

Justice George Odunga further rejected a public notice issued by NTSA requiring that all driving schools and public service vehicle operators be vetted by an inter-agency task force.

A decision by the body to disable the e-citizen passwords of driving schools and officers of the Driving Test Unit of the National Police Service was also overruled.

The move would have effectively shut down operations of most driving schools around the country.

The judge ruled in the favor of activist Okiya Omtata who went to court challenging the Traffic (Driving Schools and Instructor) Rules 2014 Act saying that there was no public participation.
