Court upholds Governor Amason Kingis election
The High Court in Malindi on Wednesday upheld the election of Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi citing insufficient evidence to invalidate the election.
While delivering his ruling, Justice Weldon Korir ordered the petitioner, former Labour Cabinet Secretary Kazungu Kambi to pay Ksh. 4 million as costs for the case.
The former CS will pay Mr. Kingi 2.2 million and Ksh.1.8 million to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Mr. Kambi had moved to court seeking orders to invalidate Kingi’s election on grounds that the August 8 election was marred by massive irregularities and illegalities.
