COVID-19: Kenya announces 1185 new cases, 17 deaths

Kenya has announced 1,185 new cases of COVID-19 infections, tested from a sample of 9,851 tested in the last 24 hours.

The new infections push Kenya’s total caseload to 53,797 from the 687,000 samples tested so far.

1,145 of the new cases are Kenyans while 40 are foreigners. 733 are male while 452 are female.

The youngest patient is an 11-month-old baby while the oldest is 93.

Distribution of the cases by Counties is as follows; Nairobi 373, Nakuru 157, Mombasa 118, Kiambu 94, Kisumu 61, Uasin Gishu 51, Kericho 39, Kakamega 38, Kisii 27, Narok 25, Trans Nzoia 22, Bomet 22, Kajiado 20, Siaya 19,

Machakos 17, Bungoma 16, Meru 15, Busia 14, Makueni 10, Kilifi 8, Nyandarua 8, Vihiga 6, Nyamira 6, Elgeyo Marakwet 3, Laikipia 3, Homabay 2, Nandi 2, Embu 2, Murang’a 2, Garissa 1, Kitui 1, Taita Taveta 1, Kirinyaga 1 and Kwale 1.

The Ministry of Health has announced 17 new coronavirus deaths, pushing the total of fatalities to 981.

272 patients have also recovered; 203 from the Home-Based Care Program and 69 from various hospitals across the country.

So far, 35876 people have recovered from the virus in Kenya.

In addition, there are 1,119 patients admitted to hospitals across the country. 4440 are receiving care under the home-based isolation and care.

41 others are in the ICU out of whom, 26 are on ventilatory support and 15 on supplementary oxygen.

There are 45 patients are on supplementary oxygen while 15 are receiving care in the High Dependency Unit.
