COVID-19: Kenya records 124 new cases, 216 recoveries

The Ministry of Health has announced 124 new cases of COVID-19, tested from a sample of 2,885 in the last 24 hours.

The new infections push Kenya’s total of confirmed infections to 96,802 and the total number of samples tested so far to 1,055,691.

From the new cases, 100 are Kenyans while 24 are foreigners; 72 are male while 52 are females.

The youngest patient is a three-year-old child while the oldest is 86.

Across the country, the cases are spread out as follows: Nairobi 67, Busia 12, Lamu 8, Nakuru 6, Mombasa 5, Murang’a 5, Machakos 4, Isiolo 3, Makueni 3, Uasin Gishu 3, Meru 2, Taita Taveta 2, Kiambu 1, Kirinyaga 1, Kisumu 1 and Narok 1.

In terms of Sub County Distribution; In Nairobi the 67 cases are from Embakasi East and Lang’ata (8) cases each, Kibra (7), Kamukunji (6), Makadara and Westlands (5) cases each, Embakasi South, Kasarani and Roysambu (4) cases each, Embakasi West, Mathare and Starehe (3) cases each, Embakasi Central and Ruaraka (2) cases each, Dagoretti North, Dagoretti South and Embakasi North (1) case each.

In Busia the 12 cases are from Matayos (10) and Teso North (2).

In Lamu the 8 cases are all from Lamu West. In Nakuru the 6 cases are from Naivasha (4) and Nakuru East (2).

In Mombasa the 5 cases are from Nyali (3) and Mvita (2) while Murang’a’s 5 cases are from Kandara (2) and Gatanga, Kiharu and Mathioya (1) case each. In Machakos the 4 cases are from Kangundo (2), Athi River and Machakos Town (1) case each. In Isiolo all the 3 cases are from Isiolo Town.

In Makueni all the 3 cases are from Kibwezi West while in Uasin Gishu the 3 cases are from Ainabkhoi (2) and Kesses (1).

In Meru the 2 cases are from Buuri and Imenti South with (1) case each while Taita Taveta’s 2 cases are all from Voi.

Kiambu’s 1 case is from Kiambu Town, Kirinyaga’s 1 case is from Kirinyaga Central, Kisumu’s 1 case is from Seme and Narok’s 1 case is from Transmara West.

The Ministry of Health has also announced 216 new recoveries; 178 from the Home-Based Care Program and 38 from hospitals across the country.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 79,073.

No new deaths were recorded between Saturday and Sunday. Kenya’s total coronavirus death toll stands at 1,685.
