COVID-19: Kenya records 141 cases, 207 recoveries, 6 deaths

The Ministry of Health on Tuesday announced that 141 people tested positive for COVID-19 out of a sample size of 3,571 tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total confirmed infections to 100,193.

From the cases, 121 are Kenyans while 20 are foreigners; 81 are males while 60 are females, and the youngest is a one-year-old baby while the oldest is 87.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, in a statement to newsrooms, also announced that 207 patients recovered from the coronavirus – 192 from the Home Based Isolation and Care while 15 were released from various facilities – taking the total recoveries to 83,625.

CS Kagwe however noted that 6 patients lost their lives to the disease, pushing the cumulative fatalities to 1,750.

The 141 cases were distributed across various counties namely; Nairobi 87, Kilifi 8, Kwale 7, Taita Taveta 6, Siaya 5, Nyeri 4, Uasin Gishu 3, Kericho 3, Mombasa 3, Nakuru 3, Garissa 2, Turkana 2, Kiambu 2, Kisumu 2, Machakos 1, Makueni 1, Murang’a 1 and Bungoma 1.

The 87 cases in Nairobi are from Dagoretti North (42), Kibra (7), Lang’ata (6), Westlands (5), Kasarani (4), Embakasi Central, Embakasi East, and Starehe (3) cases each, Dagoretti South, Embakasi South, Embakasi West, Kamukunji, and Makadara (2) cases each, Embakasi North, Mathare, Roysambu and Ruaraka (1) case each.

In Kilifi, the 8 cases are from Kilifi North (6), Kaloleni and Malindi (1) case each. In Kwale, all the 7 cases are from Lungalunga. In Taita Taveta, the 6 cases are from Voi (5) and Mwatate (1).

In Siaya, the 5 cases are from Ugunja (3), Alego Usonga and Rarieda (1) case each. In Nyeri, all the 4 cases are from Nyeri Central. In Uasin Gishu, the 3 cases are from Ainabkoi, Kapseret and Moiben (1) case each.

In Kericho, the 3 cases are from Belgut (2) and Ainamoi (1). In Mombasa, all the 3 cases are from Mvita while in Nakuru, the 3 cases are from Gilgil, Nakuru West and Njoro (1) case each.

The 2 cases in Garissa are from Dadaab and Garissa Town (1) case each, the 2 cases in Turkana are from Turkana West, the 2 cases in Kiambu are from Kiambaa and Ruiru (1) case each and the 2 cases in Kisumu are all from Kisumu Central.

The case in Machakos is from Athi River, the case in Makueni is from Makueni, the case in Murang’a is from Maragua and the case in Bungoma is from Kanduyi.
