COVID-19: Kenya records 150 new cases, 70 recoveries, 3 deaths

The Ministry of Health on Wednesday said 150 people tested positive for COVID-19 out of a sample size of 3,117 tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total confirmed infections to 101,159.

From the cases, 138 are Kenyans while 12 are foreigners; 95 are males while 55 are females, and the youngest is a two-month-old infant while the oldest is 74.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, in a statement to the press, said 70 patients recovered from the coronavirus; 43 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care while 27 were discharged from various health facilities, taking total recoveries to 84,060.

CS Kagwe however also noted that three patients succumbed to the disease, pushing the cumulative fatalities to 1,769.

The 150 cases were recorded across various counties among them; Nairobi 101, Uasin Gishu 9, Garissa 6, Mombasa 5, Kajiado 4, Machakos 3, Meru 3, Siaya 3, Kisumu 2, Migori 2, Taita Taveta 2, Kilifi 2, Kiambu 2, Nakuru 2, Kitui 2, Kisii 1, and Trans Nzoia 1.

The 101 cases in Nairobi are from Starehe (49), Lang’ata (18), Dagoretti North (9), Embakasi East, Kibra and Makadara (3) cases each, Embakasi Central, Embakasi West, Kamukunji, Mathare and Westlands (2) cases each, Dagoretti South, Embakasi North, Embakasi South, Kasarani, Roysambu and Ruaraka (1) case each.

In Uasin Gishu, the 9 cases are from Turbo (5), Ainabkoi (3) and Kesses (1). In Garissa, all the 6 cases are from Garissa Town. In Mombasa, the 5 cases are from Nyali (3), Jomvu and Mvita (1) case each.

In Kajiado, the 4 cases are from Kajiado North (2), Kajiado Central and Kajiado East (1) case each. In Machakos, the 3 cases are from Athi River, Kangundo and Machakos Town (1) case each.

In Meru, the 3 cases are all from Igembe Central. In Siaya, the 3 cases are all from Rarieda. The 2 cases in Kisumu are from Kisumu Central, the 2 cases in Migori are from Suna East, the 2 cases in Taita Taveta are from Voi, and the 2 cases in Kilifi are from Kaloleni and Kilifi North.

The 2 cases in Kiambu are from Kiambaa and Ruiru (1) case each, the 2 cases in Nakuru are from Nakuru East and Nakuru West (1) case each and the 2 cases in Kitui are all from Kitui Central.

The case in Kisii is from Kitutu Chache South and the case in Trans Nzoia is from Kiminini.
