COVID-19: Kenya records 1,554 new cases, 599 recoveries and 14 deaths

The Ministry of Health has announced 1,554 new COVID-19 infections, tested from a sample of 9,389.

The new infections push to 81,656, the total number of positive cases confirmed so far; and 870,950, the total number of samples tested.

From the cases, 1,526 are Kenyans while 28 are foreigners; 950 are male while 604 are females.

The youngest patient is a five-month-old baby while the oldest is 97.

There are 1,200 patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 7,521 are on Home Based Isolation and Care. 72 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 41 of whom are on ventilatory support, and 30 on supplemental oxygen. Another 93 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen. 

The cases are distributed across the country as follows: Nairobi 546, Mombasa 159, Kilifi 153, Kiambu 96, Kericho 68, Meru 45, Kisumu 44, Nakuru 37, Bomet 33, Kakamega 32, Machakos 30, Kajiado 29, Nyandarua 27, Busia 25, Nyeri 25, Kisii 24, Uasin Gishu 22, Siaya 18, Lamu 16, Murang’a 15, Laikipia 14, Kitui 13, Samburu 12, Taita Taveta 11, Isiolo 10, Trans Nzoia 9,
Bungoma 7, Nandi 6, Embu 6, Makueni 5, Turkana 4, Kwale 4, Vihiga 3, Homa Bay 2, Marsabit 2, Baringo 1 and Nyamira 1.

The Health Ministry also announced 599 new recoveries; 476 from the Home-Based Care and Isolation and 123 from hospitals across the country.

So far, 54,125 people have recovered from the virus in the country.

The Heath Ministry has also announced 14 new coronavirus fatalities pushing the number of deaths so far to 1,441.
