COVID-19: Kenya records 156 new infections, 11 deaths and 65 recoveries

The Ministry of Health has announced 156 new COVID-19 infections, tested from a sample pool of 4,317 in the last 24 hours.

The infections push to 96,614, the total number of confirmed cases and, 1,050,984, the total number of samples tested so far.

From the cases, 142 are Kenyans while 14 are foreigners; 96 are male while 60 are females.

The youngest patient is a 7-month-old baby while the oldest is 78 years old.

Distribution of the cases by Counties is as follows; Nairobi 57, Mombasa 23, Busia 15, Kiambu 13 Murang’a 9, Machakos 7, Nakuru 5, Uasin Gishu 4, Kajiado 4, Kitui 4, Nyeri 4, Trans Nzoia 3, Meru 2, Makueni 1, Kisumu 1, Nandi 1, Kwale 1 Embu 1 and Homabay 1.

In terms of Sub County Distribution; In Nairobi, the 57 cases are from Westlands (6), Kibra and Lang’ata (5) cases each, Dagoretti North, Dagoretti South, Kamukunji, Kasarani and Ruaraka (4) cases each, Embakasi Central, Roysambu and Starehe (3) cases each, Embakasi East, Embakasi North, Embakasi South, Embakasi West, Makadara and Mathare (2) cases each.

In Mombasa, the 23 cases are from Mvita (11), Nyali (4), Likoni (3), Jomvu and Kisauni (2) cases each, Changamwe (1). In Busia, the 15 cases are from Matayos (12) and Teso North (3).

In Kiambu, the 13 cases are from Kiambaa and Ruiru (4) cases each, Juja and Thika (2) cases each, Gatundu South (1). In Murang’a, the 9 cases are from Kiharu (7) and Mathioya (2).

In Machakos, the 7 cases are from Machakos Town (4) and Athi River (3). In Nakuru, the 5 cases are from Naivasha and Nakuru East (2) cases each, Gilgil (1).

In Uasin Gishu, the 4 cases are from Turbo (2), Ainabkoi and Kesses (1) case each. In Kajiado the 4 cases are from Kajiado North (3) and Kajiado East (1). In Kitui the 4 cases are from Kitui Central (3) and Kitui Rural (1).

In Nyeri the 4 cases are from Nyeri Central (3) and Mathira East (1). In Trans Nzoia the 3 cases are from Saboti (2) and Kiminini (1). In Meru, all the 2 cases are from Imenti North.

The case in Makueni, is from Kibwezi West, the case in Kisumu, is from Kisumu Central, the case in Nandi, is from Emgwen, the case in Kwale, is from Msambweni, the case in Embu, is from Manyatta and the case in Homabay, is from Karachuonyo.

The Ministry of Health has also announced 65 new recoveries and 11 new fatalities.

The total number of recoveries now stand at 78,802 while the total number of fatalities has risen to 1,681.
