COVID-19:  Kenya records 230 new cases, total rises to 98,184

The Ministry of Health has announced 230 new COVID-19 infections, tested from a sample of 6,515 in the last 24 hours.

The new infections push Kenya’s total COVID-19 case load to 98,184 and 1,088, 378, the total number of samples tested so far.

From the cases, 221 are Kenyans whilst 9 are foreigners; 152 are male while 78 are female.

The youngest patient is a two-year-old child while the oldest is 77.

Across the country, the cases are distributed as follows: Distribution of the cases by Counties is as follows; Nairobi 77, Taita Taveta 36, Kiambu 20, Busia 19, Kisumu 12, Meru 11, Uasin Gishu 10, Kilifi 10, Kitui 9, Mombasa 4, Kajiado 4, Laikipia 3, Murang’a 3, Nakuru 2, Kisii 1, Machakos 1, Garissa 1, Trans Nzoia 1, Bungoma 1, Nyamira 1, Migori 1, Makueni 1, Siaya 1 and Vihiga 1.

In terms of Sub County Distribution; In Nairobi the 77 cases are from Lang’ata (18), Dagoretti North (12), Embakasi East (10), Westlands (7), Starehe (4), Embakasi Central, Embakasi South, Embakasi West, Kamukunji and Roysambu (3) cases each, Kasarani, Makadara, Mathare and Ruaraka (2) cases each, Dagoretti South, Embakasi North and Kibra (1) case each. In Taita Taveta, the 36 cases are from Voi (35) and Mwatate (1)

In Kiambu the 20 cases are from Lari (7), Ruiru (3), Kiambaa, Kiambu Town, Kikuyu and Limuru (2) cases each, Githunguri and Kabete (1) case each.

In Busia, the 19 cases are from Matayos (16) and Teso North (3).

In Kisumu the 12 cases are from Kisumu Central (7), Kisumu West and Muhoroni (2) cases each, Kisumu East (1). In Meru, all the 11 cases are from Igembe Central.

In Uasin Gishu, the 10 cases are from Ainabkoi (6), Kapseret (3), Kesses (1).

In Kilifi all the 10 cases are from Kilifi North. In Kitui the 9 cases are from Kitui Central (8) and Mwingi Central (1).

In Mombasa, the 4 cases are from Kisauni, Likoni, Mvita and Nyali (1) case each.

In Kajiado, the 4 cases are from Kajiado West (2), Kajiado East and Kajiado North (1) case each.

In Laikipia, all the 3 cases are from Laikipia East. In Murang’a, the 3 cases are from Kiharu (2) and Maragua (1).

The Ministry of Health has also announced 137 new recoveries and 1 new fatalities.

The total number of recoveries stands at 80,808 while the total number of fatalities has hit 1,704.
