COVID-19: Kenya records 80 new cases, 26 recoveries, 3 deaths

The Ministry of Health on Sunday announced that 80 people tested positive for COVID-19 from a sample size of 3,733 tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total confirmed cases to 99,162.

From the cases, 62 are Kenyans while 18 are foreigners; 48 are males while 32 are females. The youngest is an eleven-year-old child while the oldest is 81.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, in a statement to newsrooms, said 26 patients recovered from the coronavirus – 24 from Home Based Care, while 2 were discharged from various facilities – taking the total recoveries to 82,350.

CS Kagwe however stated that another 3 patients succumbed to the disease, raising the fatality to 1,731.

The 80 cases were recorded across various counties namely; Nairobi 62, Meru 4, Busia 3, Kwale 3, Kiambu 2, Kericho 1, Kilifi 1, Makueni 1, Mombasa 1 Nyandarua 1 and Uasin Gishu 1.

The 62 cases in Nairobi are from Kibra (9), Westlands (7), Dagoretti North (6), Ruaraka (5), Embakasi West, Kamukunji, Lang’ata, Makadara and Starehe (4) cases each, Embakasi East and Roysambu (3) cases each, Dagoretti South, Embakasi South and Kasarani (2) cases each. Embakasi Central, Embakasi North and Mathare (1) case each.

In Meru, the 4 cases are from Igembe South, Imenti North, Imenti South and Tigania West (1) case each. In Busia, all the 3 cases are from Teso North.

In Kwale, all the 3 cases are from Msambweni. In Kiambu, the 2 cases are from Lari and Ruiru (1) case each.

The case in Kericho, is from Kipkelion East, the case in Kilifi, is from Kilifi south, the case in Makueni, is from Makueni, the case in Mombasa, is from Mvita, the case in Nyandarua, is from 0l Kalou and the case in Uasin Gishu, is from Turbo.
