COVID-19: Ministry of Health announces 4,328  new recoveries, 321 infections and 5 deaths

321 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Kenya from a sample size of 4342 tested in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health said in a statement on Wednesday.

The new cases push the total number of positive cases to 39,907 and the cumulative total of samples tested to 569,678.

Of the cases, 309 are Kenyans and 12 are foreigners. 183 are males and 138 females. The youngest is a nine-month old infant while the oldest is 88.

The cases are distributed across the country as follows: Nairobi 109, Nakuru 37, Trans Nzoia 32, Mombasa 31, Kisumu 16, Narok 16, Kisii 15, Uasin Gishu 12, Meru 9, Kilifi 8, Kiambu 7, Siaya 5, Laikipia 5, Kajiado 4, Kericho 3, Machakos 2, Migori 2, Bomet 1 Homabay 1, Kitui 1, Lamu 1, Marsabit 1, Nandi 1, Nyandarua 1 and Tharaka Nithi 1.

At the Sub County level, the cases are distributed as follows:

The 109 cases in Nairobi, are from Kibra (30), Langata (14), Westlands (12), Embakasi East (10), Roysambu (9), Embakasi West (6), Makadara (5), Embakasi South (4), Dagoretti North, Embakasi Central, Ruaraka and Starehe (3) cases each, Dagoretti South and Kasarani (2) cases each, and cases each, Embakasi North, Kamukunji and Mathare (1) case each.

In Nakuru, the 37 cases are from Nakuru East (15), Naivasha (11), Nakuru West (9) and Nakuru North (2).

In Trans Nzoia, the 32 cases are from Kiminini (18), Saboti (12), and Kwanza (2).

In Mombasa, the 31 cases are from Jomvu (13), Mvita (12), Kisauni and Likoni (2) cases each,Changamwe and Nyali (1) case each.

The 16 cases in Kisumu are from Kisumu Central (11), Kisumu East and Kisumu West (2) cases each, Nyando (1). In Narok the 16 cases are from Transmara (12), Narok North (3) and Transmara West (1).

The 15 cases in Kisii are from Kitutu Chache South (9), Kitutu Chache North (4), Bonchari and Nyaribari Chache (1) case each. while the 12 cases in Uasin Gishu are from Kesses (4), Turbo (3), Kapseret and Moiben (2) cases each and Ainamoi (1).

In Meru the 9 cases are all from Igembe North while in Kilifi the 8 cases are from Magarini (5), Kaloleni, Kilifi North and Kilifi South (1) case each.

In Kiambu the 7 cases are from Lari (3), Thika (2), Kiambu Town and Kikuyu (1) case each.

In Siaya the 5 cases are from Rarieda (4) and Alego Usonga (1) while in Laikipia the 5 cases are from Laikipia East (4) and Laikipia West (1).

In Kajiado the 4 cases are from Kajiado East (2), Kajiado Central and Kajiado North (1) case each.

In Kericho the 3 cases are from Ainamoi (2) and Belgut (1).

The2 cases in Machakos are from Athi River and Machakos Town (1) case each while the 2 cases in Migori are from Kuria West and 4 Rongo (1) case each.

The case in Bomet is from Bomet Central, the case in Homabay is from Rangwe, the case in Kitui is from Kitui Central, the case in Lamu is from Lamu West, the case in Marsabit is from Moyale, the case in Nandi is from Mosop, the case in Nyandarua is from Ol Kalou and the case in Tharaka- Nithi is from Igambang’ombe

The Ministry of Health has also announced 4,328 new recoveries; 4222 from the Home-based Care Program while 106 were discharged from various hospitals across the country.

Total recoveries now stand at 31,659.

The new coronavirus death-toll has also risen to 748 after 5 people succumbed to the virus between Tuesday and Wednesday.
