Cracks emerge in Narok NASA team

ODM Narok County leaders now want Raila Odinga to openly campaign for the party’s gubernatorial candidate Joseph Ole Tiampati just as his co-principal Governor Isaac Ruto has for Chama Cha Mashinani’s candidate Patrick Ole Ntutu.

This comes days after National Super Alliance (NASA) held a rally at Narok Stadium where cracks emerged among supporters after the CCM party leader openly campaigned for Mr Ntutu at the event held in Emurua Dikir, irking the Narok ODM camp.

Led by Narok North MP Moitalel Ole Kenta, the leaders now want a clear stand from Raila and have urged him to drum up support for the ODM candidate Tiampati just as Bomet Governor Ruto is doing for his deputy party leader Patrick ole Ntutu.

“We want Raila to campaign for Tiampati openly. We will not allow CCM to be all over Narok stadiums when as ODM we are doing nothing for our gubernatorial candidate,” said the MP.

Kenta and ODM deputy secretary Christine Lemein wondered why the ODM party leader and NASA presidential candidate remained neutral during the NASA rally yet Governor Ruto campaigned for Ntutu.

“If Raila is not campaigning for ODM candidate then Isaac Ruto should also desist from campaigning for Patrick Ntutu so that we, ODM, can have a level playing ground,” added Mr. Moitalel.

The leaders also launched a scathing attack against Jubilee, insisting that Narok is solely behind NASA because the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led administration has done nothing significant for the Maa community.

“NASA cares for the Maasai community. If you look at the nomination list for the Senate, we have Judith Pareno and Eunice Marima while in the National Assembly we also have a young man Kituro who are all Maasais,” said the ODM National Deputy Chair Christine Lemei.

On his part, ODM gubernatorial candidate Tiampati disclosed that NASA’s efforts to have the opposition outfit field a single candidate for the Narok race were futile as Ntutu was not ready to negotiate a deal.

“We as NASA planned to have Ntutu step down for me but he declined. That is why we decided to square it out on the ballot. I call upon Narok residents to vote for NASA as it will transform the lives of the Maasai community,” said Mr Tiampati.
