Cracks in Jubilee widen as women leaders split into two groups

The disquiet in the ruling Jubilee Party coupled with jostling ahead of the 2022 general election, has sparked a vicious war among women leaders leading to the formation of two factions.

‘Embrace’, now seen to popularize the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM Leader Raila Odinga and the other dubbed ‘Inua Mama Jenga Taifa’ seen leaning towards Deputy President William Ruto.

Even as the factions are complete with colors to identify them, questions are however being raised over where the women get the funding.

The two groups largely identified as the female versions of ‘Kieleweke’ and ‘Tangatanga’.

‘Embrace’ led by Youth and Gender Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary Rachel Shebesh and Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga have been accused by the other faction of enjoying State resources.

Sources within the budget committee told Citizen Digital that Ksh.200 million was hived off the National Gender Equality Commissions budget and moved to the National Government Affirmative Action Fund to starve ‘Embrace’ and ensure all woman representatives get funds for development.

‘Inua Mama’, on the other hand, is led by Kandara Legislator Alice Wahome and linked to the ‘Tanga Tanga’ wing of Jubilee.

‘Embrace’ movement has so far held rallies in Nairobi, Baringo, and Murang’a while ‘Inua Mama’ has been to Malindi and latest meeting on Friday in West Pokot.
