CS Balala: I have no plans to vie for any elective position anywhere in Kenya

Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala has come out to address speculations about his political ambitions.

CS Balala, in a statement released on Wednesday, dismissed reports carried by a local daily alleging that he is eyeing an elective seat in the 2022 General Elections

According to the Tourism CS, the said story further claimed that he would soon be stepping down from his cabinet position to pursue the seat.

CS Balala, in response, however stated that he has no desire to seek any elective position in the country not just in 2022 but beyond as well.

“My attention has been drawn to the recent media reports including in today’s Standard Newspaper’s headline story alleging that I will soon be resigning my present position as Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, to vie for an unspecified political office in the 2022 general elections,” he said.

“For avoidance of doubt, I want to categorically state that my focus is to continue to serve the country in my current position as Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife and that I have no plans to vie for any elective position anywhere in Kenya.”
