CS Kariuki dismisses reports that BVR kits to track criminals

Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Youth and Gender, Sicily Kariuki, has dismissed reports that the Independent Electoral Boundaries and Commission(IEBC) is using Biometric Voters Registration (BVR) machines to gain access of criminal records for youth involved drug abuse, saying that the motive is to instill fear and discourage them from registering as voters.

Ms Kariuki called on the youth to turn up in large numbers and register as voters so as to participate in the democratic process of electing leaders of their choice on August 8.

She accused a section of opposition leaders of misleading the youth by saying that the IEBC would provide the information on their whereabouts that would lead to their arrest for allegedly participating in criminal activities.

Addressing the public at Kangaru Market, the CS called on the provincial administration to be present in offices so as to issue identity cards that are due for collection.
