CS Kiunjuri accuses Raila of using corruption allegations to gain political mileage

Ministry of Devolution and planning Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri has accused Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) leader Raila Odinga of politicizing corruption and the Government’s projects for selfish political gain.

Speaking at a church service in Murang’a, Kiunjuri said the issue was not about corruption but a campaign slogan and a path they can use to sling mud at Jubilee ahead of the 2017 General Election.

He said CORD has nothing important to tell Kenyans, adding that accusations without evidence are futile.

“The only agenda they have is corruption allegations and I can assure you that they will pursue this day in day out until 8th August next year, and you will find that they cannot be able to prove any of the allegations,” he said.

Kiunjuri added that Kenyans can be able to choose what they want and Raila’s allegations will not change the citizens’ decisions.

The CS said that it was good for the Opposition to provide oversight, adding that it needs to allow government organs to carry out their functions.

“They cannot be whistle blowers and at the same time be the judges,” he remarked.

Kiunjuri also said that CORD is free to hold demonstrations, terming it as entertainment to Kenyans.

“They keep going to the streets all the time. It’s good for Kenyans to be entertained, but they need to know that their right ends where the rights of others begin. We urge the interior CS Joseph Nkaissery  to  deal with them,” he added.
