Public Service Cabinet Secretary Margaret Kobia was honoured in the United States on Friday, for her leadership in public service and in institutional and academic research in Kenya.

Prof. Kobia was among eight distinguished international personalities recognized by the University of Illinois, during the Distinguished Alumni and Young Alumni Achievements Awards at Illinois College of Education, her Alma Marta, in Urbana Champaign.

The citation observed that Prof. Kobia had served and made contributions to national development in Kenya.

In her speech, Prof. Kobia said that she dedicated the award to hardworking public servants in Kenya.

“The recognition renews my energy to serve,” she said.

Kobia thanked the President Uhuru Kenyatta for believing in her and appointing her in his cabinet.
