CS Matiang’i wants heroic teacher and policeman honoured
Education Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Fred Matiang’i, has proposed that a teacher and police officer who went “above and beyond” to ensure that exams got to schools be honoured by the state.
Dr. Matiang’i, who is also the Acting Interior Security CS lauded the principal of Lairuba Day Secondary School, Mr. Along’o George Mutwiri and police officer James Ngugi Chege who were captured wading through knee-deep water to get KCSE exam to the school.
A picture of the two walking through a flooded area – trousers folded to the knee and shoes in one hand was widely shared on social media and the CS decided to honour them.
In a series of tweets, Matiang’i praised the individuals for their dedication and service saying that he has recommended them for a Recognition Award to the Chief of Staff.
