CS Wamalwa downplays family row, says case to be handled by court

In Summary

  • The tussle has the larger Kijana Wamalwa family split right in the middle — on one hand is Wamalwa’s late widow Yvonne Wamalwa’s children Michelle Nafuna Wamalwa and her brother Derek Luke Mboya. Orphaned, given the death of both parents the two are battling for their lives.
  • On the opposite side is their step brothers and sister led by Jabali Wamalwa, Alice Muthoni Wamalwa, William Wamalwa Senior and William Wamalwa Junior. The four step children claim the two Wamalwa orphans from Yvonne Wamalwa’s house want to grab everything Wamalwa left for all of them.

Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has spoken for the first time over the property tussle that has rocked the Wamalwa family.

While dismissing the allegations by a section of Former Vice President Kijana Wamalwa’s children as fake news, the Devolution CS went ahead to admit that the matter over succession of his brother’s estate was being handled by the courts.

Last week, two of Kijana Wamalwa’s kin, born of the late Yvonne Wamalwa, accused CS Wamalwa of teaming up with their relatives to dethrone them from their father’s estate.

According to the two; Michelle Wamalwa and Duke Mboya, the situation was further exacerbated by the passing on of their mother Yvonne Wamalwa in January 2018.

The matter that is now in court has already forced Kijana Wamalwa’s last born daughter, Michelle Wamalwa, out of school for over one year.

Unable to access their parents’ benefits given the numerous court injunctions instituted by relatives who they claim are demanding a piece of the cake, the duo further lament that a new injunction has now been placed on their Karen family home.

A second group of siblings however emerged a day later, dismissing the children of Yvonne Wamalwa as schemers who want the lion’s share of the Wamalwa estate.

Led by the first born daughter Alice Muthoni Wamalwa, the second group says their step-sister and step brother who spoke exclusively to Citizen TV last Friday are only intent on disinheriting them.
