CS Wamalwa sued for seeking to unseat Kidero

Two people claiming to be Kenyan citizens and registered voters have sued Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa for campaign for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat ahead of 2017 polls.

Evans Okwara Ndubi and Julius Kulundu Asiba have petitioned the High Court to block Wamalwa from campaigning to replace incumbent Dr Evans Kidero since he is still holding a public office.

Ndubi and Asiba now want the court to alternatively declare vacant Wamalwa’s current position to allow him full time to campaign.

They contend the Constitution bars all Cabinet Secretaries from political involvement hence the Cabinet Secretary’s continued involvement in politics continuously breaches the supreme law.

The court is yet to set a date to hear the matter.
