Jirongo urges support for Raila-Uhuru unity deal

Former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo is calling on supporters of the National Super Alliance (NASA) to trust the unity pact between Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

According to him, those from Western Kenya can now look forward to better services from the national government.

“It was the only way to end the political stalemate that was hindering development,” Mr. Jirongo said in Kakdhimu village, Karachuonyo on Saturday. He was speaking during the burial of Julia Amayo, wife to former Karachuonyo MP, the late Okiki Amayo.

He applauded Raila Odinga for accepting to meet President Kenyatta saying the move will give the country a chance to have an all-inclusive government.

Mr Jirongo told mourners that he is indebted to the NASA leader because he helped him get a job when his party abandoned him so they can trust his intentions with the unity deal.

Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti who was also in attendance assured residents that his government addresses issues grappling the county such as water shortage.

Other leaders at the burial include Karachuonyo MP Adipo Okuome and former MPs Shem Ochuodho (Rangwe) and Philip Okundi (Homa Bay) among others.
